A BIG STORM

A big storm happened two days ago. It destroyed everything in the city. The electricity went off. All big trees went down. Some people lost their houses. Animals died. Students could not go to school because their schools were broken.
The Indonesian Red-Cross Society helped all the people in the city. They gave them some food, clothes and some blankets to protect their body from the cold. They also gave some medicine to the sick people there.
Some people from other village gave their hands to help the people in the city rebuild their houses, schools, and mosques. They worked together without giving any complaint.

 MEETING A STAR

On Saturday morning at 9:30, I was walking down Suda Street, looking for a record store. A man stopped me and asked me the way to the Hyatt Hotel. I wasn’t sure exactly where it was, but I walked with him to the end of Sunda Street. He was very friendly, and his face looked so familiar. Then I remembered where the Hyatt was and told him how to get there. He thanked me and tried to give me something. I thought it was money. I said “No” at first, but he really wanted me to have it, so I took it.
I found the record store and listened to a few records. D’Massive had a new record that was number two in the top twenty. I decided to buy it. I looked in my bag for my wallet and found a piece of paper the man gave me. It was a photo. I was so surprised! He was a singer in D’Massive.

 SAMANTHA'S EXPERIENCE

Samantha was walking home from work one day last month, when she saw a man who was trying to break into a car. She asked him what he was doing and he told her to, “Get lost!” She ran to a nearby shop and asked the owner to call the police, then he did immediately. When she went outside again she saw that both the thief and the car had gone.
About ten minutes later, a police car stopped outside the shop. A policewoman got out and asked Samantha some questions about the incident. She asked her to give a description of the car and the thief. Samantha said that the car was a dark blue Ford Focus with the registration number TR03 RMN8. She said that it had a large scratch on the right hand side. She described the man as tall with short dark hair. She said that he was slim, looked about twenty-five years old and was wearing a blue denim jacket and black jeans.
The policewoman wrote down everything in a notebook. Samantha felt a little shaken but was glad to be able to help. A few days later she found out that the thief had been caught in Newcastle and that the car had been returned to its owner, undamaged.
